Project Goal
Improving access to educational, rehabilitation, and social services for children with disabilities by providing safe, comfortable, and regular transportation to places of learning, activities, medical treatment, and participation in community events.
Project Objectives
● Purchase a specialized vehicle (a car adapted for transporting children with disabilities, including wheelchair users). This could be a minibus.● Equip the vehicle with proper technical equipment (ramp or lift, wheelchair restraints, seat belts, air conditioning, heating system, etc.).● Organize a system of regular transportation for children with disabilities to educational, rehabilitation, and cultural institutions.● Increase the level of social integration of children with disabilities through participation in extracurricular, cultural, and sports activities.● Ensure safe transportation conditions in accordance with legislation and inclusive mobility standards.● Provide training for staff (driver, accompanying person) on working with children with disabilities and administering first aid.● Raise community awareness about the importance of equal access to services and the need to create a barrier-free environment.
Project RelevanceThe public organization providing day care services for children with disabilities works daily to ensure quality care, development, and social adaptation for its beneficiaries. One of the key prerequisites for effective service delivery is accessibility—the ability for children to regularly attend the center, participate in activities, receive rehabilitation support, and interact with peers.
In practice, lack of transportation often becomes the main obstacle to the social participation of children with disabilities. Many families live in remote areas, do not have their own transport, or cannot use public transportation due to its inaccessibility for people with limited mobility. This leads to social isolation, limiting children’s opportunities for development, learning, and rehabilitation.

Purchasing a specialized vehicle for transporting children with disabilities is an essential step to ensure the sustainability of day care services. Having dedicated transport will allow:
● Daily transportation of children to and from the center;● Participation of children in off-center events (excursions, cultural, sports, and inclusive activities);● Quick response to the needs of families raising children with disabilities, especially in emergencies;● Expansion of service coverage, attracting new beneficiaries from remote communities.
Furthermore, the implementation of this project aligns with state policy on deinstitutionalization, inclusion, and the development of barrier-free spaces, as defined in the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine by 2030.
Thus, acquiring a specialized vehicle will improve the quality and efficiency of day care social services, ensure equal opportunities for children with disabilities and their families, and promote the development of an inclusive community where every child has the right to an active life and full participation in society.
Project SustainabilityAfter the project’s funding ends, the public organization will ensure a sustainable and long-term effect from its implementation. The purchased specialized vehicle will serve as a material foundation for continued provision of day care services and other programs supporting children with disabilities.
The organization has an established activity in the field of social services, operating based on a local government decision to be included in the list of social service providers. This guarantees the ongoing functioning of the service and the presence of beneficiaries who require regular transportation
