French Language and Cultural Immersion Program for Youth from Odessa in Lyon, France
In the heart of Odessa, a city marked by four years of war, the Alliance Française d'Odessa continues to teach French and promote the values of humanism and openness. Today, in partnership with several Alliances Françaises in France, it wishes to offer 10 of its students — accompanied by a supervisor — a week of linguistic and cultural immersion at the Alliance Française de Lyon.

Since 2022, Ukraine has been living through conflict and hardship. Yet these young people continue to learn, open themselves to the world, and believe in the future. This stay in France represents exactly that: a bright and hopeful break from a daily life that is often difficult. A week to breathe, learn, discover — and return home with memories and skills that will last a lifetime.
This project is the result of a partnership between the Alliance Française d'Odessa and the Alliance Française de Lyon, which is providing free French language classes every morning. The Alliance Française d'Odessa and its partners are covering international transportation costs.
Your support will help finance:● Local transportation in Lyon and the surrounding region● Accommodation for the 10 students and their supervisor● Cultural activities: museums, visits, and discoveries
The program: 14 days to learn and be inspired
Every morning from Monday to Friday, the students will attend 4 hours of French classes led by teachers from the Alliance Française de Lyon (40 hours over 10 days!).
The afternoons will be dedicated to discovering Lyon: the streets of Vieux Lyon, its museums, markets, gastronomy, and cultural heritage… A complete immersion into French life and culture!
Whatever the amount, your contribution has a direct and tangible impact. All funds collected are entirely dedicated to financing the program.

The students participating in this project have been selected by the Alliance Française d'Odessa through a competition designed to evaluate their commitment and involvement in learning the French language.
The selected students demonstrated strong motivation, perseverance, and academic engagement despite the difficult circumstances caused by war, stress, and uncertainty in Ukraine. This educational trip represents both a reward for their efforts and an opportunity to encourage their continued personal andlinguistic development.
The project also aims to send a positive and motivating message to other students of the Alliance Française d'Odessa: commitment, hard work, and dedication to learning can create concrete international opportunities even during difficult times.
The project therefore specifically supports highly motivated young Ukrainians who continue investing in education, culture, and international openness despite the challenges of wartime conditions.
